Wayne Soucy Named CEO of California Health Advocates

Wayne-SoucySacramento, CA — California Health Advocates (CHA), an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to public policy, education and advocacy efforts on behalf of Medicare beneficiaries, is pleased to announce Wayne B. Soucy of Rancho Mirage, CA as its new President and Chief Executive Officer.

“I am very excited about leading the organization that is the premier source of information and advocacy for California’s 4.2 million Medicare beneficiaries and those that help them navigate their health benefits,” said Mr. Soucy. “These are challenging times, and I am confident that CHA will continue to be a leader in enabling the elderly and those with disabilities to obtain the health care they need.”

Mr. Soucy brings to CHA more than 30 years of experience in non-profit and public organizations involving healthcare, government, advocacy, community collaboration and public policy development. Most recently, he served for over four years as CEO for the Desert Healthcare Foundation andDesert Healthcare District, bringing together key elected officials and non-profit and business partners to improve the health and quality of life for the region’s residents. Mr. Soucy was formerly the Executive Vice President forPacific Clinics for 18 years, helping grow the agency from 7 clinics to a network of 65 locations. He has also served on the boards of numerous organizations, including the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Family Services of the Desert, Joslyn Senior Center, and Huntington Memorial Hospital.

“Wayne Soucy brings a lot of knowledge, experience, leadership, and enthusiasm that will continue and enhance CHA’s dedication to and work on behalf of California’s Medicare population,” said CHA Board Chair Tatiana Fassieux. “He wholeheartedly believes in our mission, understands the needs of the Medicare population and their advocates, and we are extremely pleased that he will be leading our organization.”

California Health Advocates’ work includes providing education, training and up to date information to organizations which serve California’s Medicare beneficiaries, especially the 24 local Health Insurance and Counseling Programs (HICAP), which provide benefits counseling and community education directly to those with Medicare and their families.
